After its first entry into the scientific stage [1] the deletion polymorphism of the Angiotensin Converting Enzyme presented cardiovascular researchers with a grateful opportunity to explore genetic mechanisms in cardiovascular disease. However, after a Good start, conflicting results gave the genotype a Bad reputation, and the stage now looks rather Ugly.
