A Catheter Tip Electromagnetic Velocity Probe and its Evaluation*

C. J. Mills and J. P. Shillingford

From the Medical Research Council's Cardiovascular Research Unit, and the Department of Medicine, Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London

Authors' Synopsis: A catheter tip instrument for measuring blood velocities and based on the principle of electromagnetic induction has been constructed and its performance evaluated. The results have shown it to be capable of reproducing velocity waveforms accurately in various circumstances.
