Effects of Angiotensin on the Heart and Coronary Circulation of the Dog Before and After Beta-adrenergic Blockade*
From the Department of Physiology, UCLA, School of Medicine Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Author's Synopsis: Rapid intravenous injections of angiotensin increased systemic pressure and reduced coronary flow while cardiac output remained unchanged or reduced. After a few seconds cardiac output and coronary flow increased. After β-adrenergic blockade, angiotensin produced only a reduction in cardiac output and the coronary flow increase per unit rise of pressure was diminished. These studies provide further evidence indicating an intimate association between angiotensin and the sympathetico-adrenal axis.
