Blood Flow in the Right Coronary Artery of the Dog*
From the Department of Biophysics and Nuclear Medicine, University of California at Los Angeles, California, U.S.A.
Author's Synopsis: Phasic and mean blood flow in the right coronary artery of either the anesthetized open-chest or the conscious dog is qualitatively similar to that in the left coronary artery. Systolic flow accounts for an appreciable proportion of total flow. Both diastolic and systolic flow are increased following short periods of right coronary artery occlusion. Local injections of adrenaline and noradrenaline resulted in an increase in mean flow despite a reduction or reversal of flow in the isovolumetric phase of systole.
